Our national parks are amazing!

Oh my gosh, I so totally understand your emotions on your trip. I have similar emotions. You are right, they are a wonderful thing if you let yourself experience them. I'm sorry for the people that won't let themselves experience them, but hurt for the people that can't because of the past pain. It is so worth it. I'm 70, so I've had quite a few years of traveling, and the beauty of our country is amazing, awe-inspiring, breathtaking, but, for me, humbling. I feel very insignificant in its presence. Traveling with your kids is an awesome experience for sure. Memories that last a lifetime.

I. once spent 30 days in Wyoming on an ecology trip, from top to bottom, east to West I had to fly out of Billings Montana.... and yes those emotions hit me like a brick wall! I could not stop crying, knowing I had to go home. I'm a country girl from Aiken, SC, but the West calls out to me it is so beautiful, beyond words.

I use 8ft tposts and bungies currently for our garden. Makes for easy take down for stormy / windy days. Texas heat in June - Aug make these a harvest saver and season extender!

Yes the T posts will rip the shade cloth. Ask me how I know! Just replaced.

Jess I want you to know I just listened to your latest pod cast. I want to thank you for your words… some days I feel like what my husband and I are doing here is not enough. Yet it is what we can do in this phase of life. I am 53 and fighting cancer I will for the rest of my life.. however we grow the vast majority of our food and we local source what we can’t grow.. or buy from sources that stand with our beliefs.. we only have one ac here and that is not enough land for a dairy source other than goats and honestly with my health that is just not a option at this point. We do have chickens for eggs etc.. we have berry plants , fruit trees and gardens in every spot we can find.. I can and store away a fast amount of food each season and bake all our breads. But I can’t grow wheat or the chicken. Feed. Those things have to be sources off the little farm… same with our milk we source it from a local family farm.. we do our best to lesson our need for big box stores etc but sometimes there is no other choice… just know you made me feel heard by your podcast..

I just raised 5 pop up canopy frames and wired and staked to as deep as possible because Arizona is granite and clay. So i use raised beds and grow bags. It survived the first monsoon storm and the rain gets through fine. 40 percent made a huge difference in the health of my garden.

Never been to the North Rim. My husband took me to the South Rim for my 32nd birthday in 1991. We had lived in the Phoenix area for 6 years it was time to see the Grand Canyon. It was astonishing, breathtaking, it made me unsteady on my feet. I'm thankful for the railing, I almost fell over. Not everyone has a physical reaction, we're blessed.

I have a massive sycamore tree on my south side that protects my main garden. Very fortunate in that. Miah u r a mechanical dream. My dad was a trim carpenter & would have put u to work😁. Unfortunately I don’t hav dad or u so I’m just gonna put some shade cloth and pool noodles to work on the trellises if need be. Supposed to get to 102* today. I put in soaker hoses & doubled the mulch this morning. Love your work💜

I disagree. I can't find anyone better than Sweet Miah to show me how to install a tension link. I called my daughter's friend Judy for 2 years before I realized her name was Claire. I apologized profusely when I discovered I was calling her by "big booty Judy". 2 years! God loves me, I'm not sure about Claire.

I create makeshift shade for my chickens with a shade cloth, paracord(doesn’t stretch) and Tposts. I’m amazed at how much wind it can take. I stretch it as tight as I can get it. Same shade cloth had lasted 3 yrs. I take it down in the winter.

I've travelled a lot and no place on Earth has moved me like the Grand Canyon. It just makes you feel so small. Truly breathtaking. I cried watching this. I wish you could hike down. When you pass through the Cocomino sandstone layer and realize that little white band you see from the rim is actually 300 feet tall when you're standing before it, then you REALLy start to appreciate the scale of the place. Also wish you could have gone to see the outdoor musical TEXAS in Palo Duro Canyon when yall went through Amarillo. Palo Duro is like a baby grand canyon that just opens up out of the flat prairie.

I had the shade cloth over my garden for years. It also protects from lite to medium hail.
